European Robin

I went for a walk on my park today and met this little guy, he turned out to be a perfect model doing several poses for me, it was a lovely morning so plenty of Blue Sky in the BG.

Some info...

Robin
Erithacus rubecula
AKA: European robin
The UK's favourite bird - with its bright red breast it is familar throughout the year and especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights.

Where does it live?
Breeding
Likes woodlands, parks and gardens with plenty of undergrowth.
Wintering
Similar to breeding habitats
Where to see it
Across the UK in woodland, hedgerows, parks and gardens.
What does it eat?
Worms, seeds, fruits and insects.
What does it sound like?
The song is a sweet, high warbling; alarm call is a loud 'tic',
When to see it
All year round.
Similar species
Nightingale

Hi Hilary

I have some lovely neighbours in the gallery today. You on one side and Claudine on the other. This is a super shot of the robin. Gorgeous colours and lovely details. The composition is great as well. The POV gives that lovely blue BG

Hi Hill.
Both pictures look on my computer very well. A weak colour noise was visible a bit on the trunk only.

Charming bird has been presented very nice. Vivid colours, excellent composition of the shot, impressive POV and exact DOF give us opportunity to see all beauties of this bird. Perfect done and TFS.

Hi Hil,
Looks like you had a nice day in the UK today. Nice capture, there seem to be a lot of Robins on TN lately. That's one of the things I like about TN over other photo sites, it reflects nature through the seasons. As it happens in the wild, we can see it on TN.

Good POV giving a clear view of the bird and framing to the left with the tree trunk. Great colours especially on the Robin. Same thought as the first critique, the detail looks a little soft possibly through the use of noise reduction. Great light and good catchlight in the eye. Nicely framed with the Robin off centre and looking into the frame. Nice image.
Cheers,
Adrian

Hello Hilary,
Another fine capture of the British Robin. Here I like the lighting and composition most of all, the catchlight in the eye providing the focal point of the image. I also like the sloping branch in this comp.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Hilary, You and your gallery neighbour seem to have had a plan to post these pics together. Cannot see how else this can be a co-incidence? Just kidding :-).Good work here and THERE as well :-).

Take care, Kiran.

Hi Hilary,
An excellent shot on this European Robin. Spot on with the exposure. Colors and detail look great. They are much cuter than the North American Robins. Looks good!
Scott

This is a beautiful capture Hilary. I love those colors and POV. Again, you caught a very nice light in its eye. I think that the details on its feathers could be a little accentuated but maybe this is due to this objective your are using. Did you use noise reduction on the bird? This is a very lovely capture anyway :) Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Hilary nice shot good angle love the sky in the background contrasts nicely with the red-breast best R Necip

Hi Hilary,

What a beautiful robin! The colors, pose, details and setting are wonderful. I'm so jealous - I have been in Arizona for ten years and have never seen one here.

bonjour hilary
super POV ,l'oiseau est bien exposé,mais il a perdu un peu de ses details surement parce que vous avez dû zoomer a fond pour l'avoir aussi pres.cela reste une belle photo colorée.
