Herring Gull
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A juvenile Herring gull, Larus argentatus, sitting along the shore at Torquay in Devon. I find they're quite photogenic birds and fairly easy to take decent photos of.
Herring gull adults have light grey backs, white underparts and black wingtips. Juveniles are mottled brown.
They have pink legs, webbed feet, and slightly hooked bills with a red spot.
Herring gulls are found all year around the coasts and inland at rubbish tips, fields, large reservoirs and lakes, especially during winter.
