[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the male of the Whinchat pair that I mentioned yesterday when I posted my Sleeping Whinchat. These birds are a treat to see and study. You can get some indication of how light and delicate they are and also the habitat in which they breed by the Bracken the bird is perched on, a plant always associated with moorland. Whinchats are migratory and in their wintering grounds in Africa, and on migration they are never as brightly marked and colourful as this example.

This is just beautiful. I would agree that a little more selective sharpening would have been beneficial for posting at this size, and I might have cropped alittle more off-centre, but the lighting, focus, background and exposure are all perfect - and it's an attractive little bird too.

A nice shot of the winchat, good focus and dof, with a good oof background. The image is slightly soft, perhaps slight sharpening would help.
