This is great!
Not only because you captured a kingfisher with high technical quality to the image, the lightingand sharpness being superb, but also because you caught it from a great POV showing the resplendant back.
Futhermore as you say, we don't often see them perched on the ground and you took this opportunity from a great POV.
Well done Nick: this is a favourite!

Good detail of the plumage of areas that are not normally seen, sharp with a good POV and nice highlight. Interesting that it could make a catch from this low level.

There is a pre-technicolor appearance to this one...or perhaps I do mean Technicolor...not sure..but it looks like the colours from a 1950's movie...interesting...in video there is a format call Cine' which I have yet to try but I expect it hay do this same thing...and here it certainly adds to the attractiveness of the bird...

This is just superb..You have made the most of the light today without a doubt.
The low pov combined with a great foreground and background make this a scene rather than just a Kingfisher picture.

This is even better than yesterday's. In fact it's magnificent. Usually pictures of Kingfishers show them in trees. I have never seen one with such wonderful details and brilliant colors - he sparkles. A beautiful setting and composition.

Wowww... Nick this shoot is better than that of yesterday one. Wonderful composition, details and warm colours. Also nice reflections on water surface that complete the configuration.

What asharp image of this wonderfull bird! The strong light brings out the beauty of the plumage making the bird looking like a jewel. ou have chosen a good POV showing well the plumage of the bird. Taking the photo from soil level was a great idea.

Another very good capture of Kingfisher. Nice pose and composition, sharp details, bright colours. BG is a bit wild and you could use either selective noise reduction or blur tool.

One of the best Kingfisher photos I've ever seen Nicholas, a steady tripod and a perfect exposure enabled you to capture a finely focused individual under strong sunlight, some of those bluish feathers seem to sparkle my friend! Thank you indeed for sharing this exceptional image with us.

I just discover your Kingfisher-pictures. Great! This one is my preferance, because of the surrounding water and the reflections on it (the same colours as the bird) and also for the vivid attitude of the Kingfisher. You have been very lucky to make all these shots!
