This was taken yesterday after a morning of rain and very dull skies , In the afternoon the sun came out and i made the most of it glad i did as its not stopped raining all day today. I liked the heart shaped leaf with the red edge which i felt matched the Damselfly.

Hi Nick,
A lovely capture of this beautiful damselfly. Very good composition. Razor sharp focus. A nice POV. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hallo Nicholas
This week time is critical; however...............................This is a great close-up, with even greater colour, and the details are very clear. Here I specifically refer to the red eyes that remind me red cherries. The red lining of the green leaf really supplement this photo well. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.
Anna

I shall now have to sp0edn this year figuring out the differences in dragons and damsels...that is if I can ever catch up with one... A lovely red colour Nick...sort of a deeper red..darker than fire engine red...classic!
Bob

Hello Nick,
A very fine capture of a male Large Red Damselfly taken from a pleasing POV that shows all the features with excellent sharpness. Nicely composed on the bramble leaf too.

Hi Nick,

I'm with Bob - never heard of a damselfly before TN - everything here was always just a dragonfly. I have no idea what is what and what the difference is. This red one is beautiful with great colors and fine details. Beautiful on the nicely shaped green leaf.

Jane

Nic,

Very pleasing. I had always run into depth of field issues with Sigma 180mm lens even at F11. i am glad to see that you could achieve a very good depth of field of this damselfly. Pretty attractive and colorful.

Helo Nicholas,

The red colour of this Damselfly is truly bright and beautiful, Nicholas.
The edges of the leaf match up with the the colour of the subject and you did well to factor this in while framing your shot.
Overall, a fantastic composition with the subject perched on a shapely leaf.

Brilliant macro of this beautiful Damselfly!
You're right, the heart-shaped, red-lined leaf works very well with the insect.
Pin-sharp and very detailed.
Superb lighting.

Hello Nick,

I must admit, this is a beauty! You're right! It does match the prettily red-edged leaf!
Excellent details both of the fly and the leaf! The shadows are particularly nice and produce a 'netted' effect on the leaf!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Nick,
The shine after the rain perhaps provides one of the best environments for the shoot especially the life around.

You made the best use of it Nick, with this beautiful capture. You are right about the red edges of the leaf complimenting the colour of the red damsel. I love the use of light, the details, the sharpness and focus here. I love the way the right eye of the damsel has this glossy look with the light falling right on its head.
Very well done.
TFS & Cheers
