Hello Everyone,

Hope you're all well. I've been pretty busy the past couple of weeks, so i've not been able to spend much time doing what i love most i'm afraid, taking photo's and then sharing them with you guys.
However, this weekend finally saw some good weather and some spare time for me thankfully. I also took the plunge and bought a new camera, the Cannon 40D.
Lot's to learn but i'm really pleased with the decision i made so far and i'm thouroughly enjoying learning how to use my new toy. Thanks to everyone who offered me advice on this!
Anyway, this was Mupe Bay yesterday, in what felt like Mediteranean weather. The large chalk boulders in the foreground here are the result of a huge landslipe on the cliffs above, and their accumulation in the shallows here turns the water a vivid blue when the sun is beaming down on them. The was taken at about midday, and man was it hot...

Lots of critiques to catch up on, but i'll get there :o)

Well well

This looks like it was taken on some sunny isle and not in our cold Dorset shores. Wonderfull blues that lift my Monday spirits. Reminds of a little song I used to sing.......

Blue hotel on a lonely highway.
Blue hotel life don't work out my way.
Blue hotel on a lonely highway.
Blue hotel life don't work out my way.
I wait alone each lonely night.
Blue hotel, blue hotel.
Blue hotel every room is lonely.
Blue hotel I was waiting only.
The night and the life of her lonely dream.
Blue hotel, blue hotel.

Blue hotel, blue hotel.

Hello Paul,
A superb sea/landscape with the sea looking almost tropical! You said it was hot, though you also seem to get your share of low pressures.
Great composition with the chalk boulders in the FG and the headland and rocks on the horizon.
Looks like a great start with your new 40D. I considered getting one myself but I'm so pleased with my 400 that it will have to wait.
TFS this superb image,
Ivan

A slow 1/16th capture time eh? man oh man...you have this down pat. It surely has a warm and summer-like look to it...and is not as moody as some of your others in same catagory...but still the brightness brings a bit of sunshine to my morning..

Hi Paul, those chalk boulders remind me a little of the white rocks in southern France... boy, it looks very warm and it changes from the pictures we are used to see from you where the weather is stormier than this! It is almost tropical and the colours are fantastic! At first glance I thought that the picture was over exposed but no, it is sunny! Just like Luis52's pictures and Jaycee's, the sun is bright and warm, dry and the colours are stunning! I love the view on the rocks at far and the movement of the waves on the lower left corner. Being on such a beach must be fantastic, as a sea lover I just love it! And congratulations for your 40D, it is a fantastic camera that you'll love using,

Francine

Hello Paul
First of all many congratulations on you new 40d which it seems like you have got the hang of already!!
This is a splendid scene and captured superbly..If I had a niggle then it would be that the rocks in the right fg are a tad oe..Perhaps an upturned grad combined with the polariser may have cured this?...Im no landscape photographer as you know!!
Anyhow its still an awesome capture.
All the best to you Paul
Paul

ps..I mngd to gt a cpl of abs in thr

Hi Paul

Another well planned and captured composition. The colours are really mediterranean here - strange how that can happen. Lovely shot - hope you enjoy your new camera.

hello Paul,
Hope you will be very pleased with your new camera!
In your picture I like, next to the composition the different blue-tones in the back. The colour of the water reminds me days of intensive sun at the sea. May be because of strong sunshine the front stone appears on my screen a little surexposed.
Bonne journée

Hi Paul

I like these "Mediteranean" images...they get me in mood for Croatia in August :))
Congratulations for your new camera! I hope it will bring you a lot of joy and stunning shots :)

This is a very nice first image with your camera and the mood in the scene is indeed gorgeous: sun, a beautiful blue sea, warm tempratures...almost like your somwhere else, not in England :))
All the tones in the picture are wonderful and the POV and compo are great, too. I do however feel that the FG lacks a bit of shadow...i don't know exactly why that is, but it's like you don't need more contrast (that will burn your whites) but you need more blacks.
Anyway, it's a lovely photo and the first of many more in the new PaulH era ;)

Cheers mate and TFS

Hello Paul,
What a marvelous blue my friend, this colorful composition is exquisitely done Paul. With all the white on a sunny day you have nailed the exposure as well. Thank for sharing this Paul and good luck with the new camera.

So beautiful that I'm wishing to see and enjoy the sea myself right now!! But... Sniff, sniff!! ...I'm at work and so far from it!
Now you come here and know what it is hot!! Uff!! :)
Magnificent shot, my friend. Congratulations on your new 'toy'.
Greetings
Maite

Beautiful place Paul.
i can't get over how blue the sea looks.
Is that because of the chalk beds?
I don't remember it being that blue at Clacton.
Lovely capture.
Cheers
Steve

Hallo Paul
Looking at this image of the coastal view I regret not visiting the beach more often. We stay about 20 minutes drive away from the beach, but have not been there for years. On the other hand I can just look at your images and imagine being, because you present them in such perfect reality. This photo is just another beauty of a beach, lots of sun, turquoise water lapping the shore, waves breaking across the sand and rocks. A nicely composed photo with refreshing and cool colours and details. – Just love the clear blue sky. This is just one of your many landscapes that I admire. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
ps. After a cold blooded stabbing on the beach of a fisherman in this week, I rather stay away and enjoy the scenes on the gallery.
