Hello Nicholas,
Today I'm surrounded by two heavyweights of TN.. So I'll come and say hello to your round Chaffinch, nicely perched on a branch observing the photographer. It must have been quite cold when you took your shot! Pleasing composition and framing.
I don't see much Chaffinchs around here either.

Hello Nick,

An excellent capture with beautiful coloration & fine details. Very nice POV, pose & BG.

One can tell that it must be winter/cold on that particular day with this Chaffin's feathers all puffed out for increased body insulation!

Hello Nick,
A really nice one of a male Chaffinch in fresh breeding plumage. Technically this excellent with superb colours and sharpness and the POV shows most of its features in a fine way. I like the composition too with the diagonal branch that it is perched on against a fine neutral BG.

Hello Nick,
I can see that it's taken in winter, "bofinken" has fluffy up to keep warm.
Good sharpness with fine details and nice natural colours.
It's also well seen from the OOF BG.

Hi Nick,
Your focus is absolutely superb! From the sharp nails of the bird and the lichen on the branch to the details of the feathers, it is an excellent study of nature.

This is a beautiful Finch; in South Africa one always thinks of Finches as LBJs (little brown jobs).

Do they change the plumage in winter? I tried to google the question but was unsuccesfull...

A lovely shot of this cute male chaffinch!
He look very nice and fat and you've captured him from a great angle that shows both its face, the lovely colors on the wings and sides and that big belly :))
Seriously now, the shot is very good, with impeccable details and a spot-on exposure.
