Nice hot day today so decided to visit the local ponds to look for dragonflies and damselflies. This one had found a nice perch so it was relatively easy to focus on the reed and wait for it to return...they usually have a favourite perch like this.
300mm + 2x converter (focusses close). |

Hi John,
Great shot, superb colour and sharpness and the wing detail is fantastic.
I think you will find that this is a four Spotted Chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata).
I pick up my info on these at www.dragonflysoc.org.uk this is a very informative site.
Tfs Andy
Very nice macro John.
I like the diagonall lines of the body and wings of the dragonfly in the compo very much.
BG color tones against wich the dragonfly does stand out lovely are wonderful.
Thanks for sharing.
Warm regards, Harry

Hello John,
This is a fine capture of the Four-spotted Chaser sharply showing the wings and body in good detail. The tilt of the wings makes it a fine composition and the contrast of the glitter on the wings with the deep blue and turquoise BG is great.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan
