Hello John,
What an amazing first picture you present us. Excellent composition and point of view. I'm surprised that the female is dead. That's almost Eros and Thanatos in the toads world.
Thank's and best regards
Anne

Anne said it: Eros and Thanatos...competing?

It's an excellent shot showing this peculiar characteristics of common toad males. The quality of this shot is exceptional, perfect details, light, spot-on focus and perfect DOF. This pair looks almost like dancing in the air.
I'm looking forward to see ore shots from you...

Hi John and a warm welcome to TrekNature!

This is a very interesting first post!
I've noticed this habit at Bufo bufo as well. They really don't care about the state of their mate...they know what they have to do in order to keep existing :))
The upper POV here is exceptional and the clear water allows a nice view and depth to the entire subjects and shot.
The colors are superb and very nicely saturated and all the details and textures are brilliant!
As a bonus, i raelly like the look of the female's eyes...they give special emotion to the image.

Bravo and Thanks For Sharing
Horia
