[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I am very lucky to live in a very rural part of the Essex countryside with my garden overlooking fields which are all arable.
This Male Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) visits my garden frequently to feed on seed which I put out for passerine birds.
He is in his breeding colours and has been joined by 4 females on occasions.
His vivid colours make him difficult to capture and despite how I set up my white balance manually and and spot meter on areas of shadow I still seem to overexpose the whites, I put this down to my lens and the light I get which can be quite harsh and contrasty at this time of year.
PP..A small crop to square the image and nothing else.
I see my shooting info puts my lenses length at 500mm but it was at 300mm.

Hi Billy. The detail in your close up of the male pheasant is fantastic. I have never seen one in such colour ready for spring. Your sharp focusing has given rich colours .well done TFs.
Nick..
Have a good Easter.

Hi Billy,

A magnificent portrait of this Pheasant. I can't take my eye off his eye - it is wonderful. The red feathers surrounding it just don't look real. Fantastic colors and and outstanding details of the feathers. No wonder the ladies like him.

Jane
