Demoiselle

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I took this today at King's Hat in the New Forest, there were many of these around the stream, chasing each other about. I believe this to be a Banded Demoiselle, If anyone could confirm this I would be very grateful, once I am sure of the ID I will post some notes.
I used Photoshop elements to convert from RAW, resize and sharpen very slightly.
Thanks for looking. |

(ps ... do you live in Newham borough? My parents are both from East Ham. I used to stay there as a kid and go and see the Hammers when Bobby Moore,Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters were kings of the field)
Welcome to TN by the way :)

Hi Lee
these are stunning and you caught it wonderfully. The colours are amazing, the details of the damsel really stand out and the shot is well composed

Hi Lee - nice pic, just a touch over exposed but great focus and detail. It's the male Beautiful (Calopteryx virgo) rather than Banded Demoiselle (C.splendens). I've taken pictures of the same species at a New Forest stream near Lyndhurst. When they are in the sunlight the metallic colours are just awesome.
