another new lens?! :-)
This is a lens that I am thinking of getting, instead of my 100-400mm. Trouble is, it doesn't have Image Stabilisation, however it's sharper than my lens so I have to work out if the extra sharpness is worth not have Image Stabilisation... what do you think?

Hi Nick,

You certainly should be pleased with your lens - you are doing fine work with it. This Blue Tit is a perfect example. Wonderful clarity and beautiful colors. The face, eye, wings and plummage are all magnificent. I love the background and the composition.

A lovely close-up of this beautiful blue tit!
The side POV here shows the drawing of its plumage so nicely and especially in this warm, low light it makes it pop out even better from the picture.
The tones and colors everywhere are also definitely enhanced by the natural light but also by your very exact exposure.
Very good sharpness and shallow DOF, too.

This charming species is in my wish list yet despite I have few cute shots. However, your picture is superb. Exposure and details of the bird is so precise as wonderful. I like simple and very impressive scene and amazing colouration of the old wood and BG. Bravo. Excellent work.

Yes, it looks like you have a good lens there and coupled with your skills as a photographer, you have taken a great shot of a Blue Tit from a fine POV with excellent sharpness and ambient lighting. The pose and composition are excellent and I like how it contrasts with the OOF rusty-coloured BG.
