I found this in my my back yard last week.
Love-in-a-mist(Nigella damascaena)10-15cm
A delicate annual with finely divided leaves cut two-to three timesinto very slender segments. Short stalked blue flowers are 20-30mm across with a ring of small, finely divided leaves immediately beneath; perianth segments usually five, oval; blue stamens numerous; ovary has five long styles. Smooth fruit, almost globular and swollen, opens to release many seeds.
Flowering: June-September
Distribution: Mainly southern Europe, naturalised elsewhere; cultivated fields, waste ground.
The waste ground bit is definately true, you should see my garden!
I used Photoshop to increase contrast and saturation, and to resize. Thanks for looking |
