Tachina grossa is a large member of the Tachinid family of flies. Members of this group are parasitic. At 20mm this is one of the UK's largest flies, and lays its eggs on hairy caterpillars such as Fox Moth and Eggar species. The adult flies can be seen feeding on flowers in the summer months.
