[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have not been out and about recently so this is a shot taken earlier in the year.

This Mute Swan has just managed to get airborne on a local lake.

The Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) is a large distinctive water bird, the commonest swan in Britain.

The Adult has pure white plumage, black legs and orange-red bill; black knob at base of bill is smaller in the female (penn) than the male (cobb).

Young cygnets often seen accompanying the mother.

Later in the season the full grown juvenile has buffish brown plumage and dirty pink bill.

When swimming the bird holds it neck in an elegant curve.

In flight, as broad wings and shallow but powerful wing-beats which produce the characteristic, throbbing whine; birds otherwise silent.

Nest beside rivers and lakes.

hello William

excellent and dynamic photo of this Mute Swan on his
take-off running action, fine POV, fine framing
with leaving space to show the splashs of the run
and enough place infront of the bird where is going,
fine focus with excellent sharpness and details, TFS

Hi William. A very beautiful picture of the swan taking off.Taken a a good speed of 1/2000 keeps it all in focus with fine detail. i like the splashes on the water . Great detail in the large open wings. All with natural colours. well done TFs.
