[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Scarlet Pimpernel, Anagallis arvensis.

Stunning red colour, tiny flower - 4-5 mm across.

These tiny plants are members of the Primrose family. Hairless, annual, growing to about 10 cm. Straggly and thin, the stems are rectangular, but not very supportive.

Leaves grow to about 2 cm, lanceolate and pointed, also stalkless.

This plant is poisonous, but is often found in and around cultivated ground.

This one was imaged on waste ground, prostrate and slightly damage.

Only PP work was to crop and sharpen for upload.

Manual focus, manual setting, ISO 100, shutter, 1/640, f-stop 2.8

Flash used, mirror lock and remote release. Shot in RAW.

After yesterdays mishhap, I have had to get another macro ring light and remote shutter release, but while at the local camera emporium, I obtained a macro slide adjuster for the tripod and made a light box... I hope therefore to be able to upload better quality images...

Hi Howard.
In spite of open aperture value you managed to get a very nice DOF and great sharpness of the flower details. Flash work is very good too. Colours are rich and fine. Well done and my kind regards.
