Another shot of the European Robin from College lake.
I was trying to get a shot of him on the move, but wasn't expecting his tail feathers to get so high. So into the just missed theme for that reason, other than that, I'm happy with the rest of the image.

Robin
Erithacus rubecula
AKA: European robin
The UK's favourite bird - with its bright red breast it is familar throughout the year and especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights.

Where does it live?
Breeding
Likes woodlands, parks and gardens with plenty of undergrowth.
Wintering
Similar to breeding habitats
Where to see it
Across the UK in woodland, hedgerows, parks and gardens.
What does it eat?
Worms, seeds, fruits and insects.
What does it sound like?
The song is a sweet, high warbling; alarm call is a loud 'tic',
When to see it
All year round.

Nice pose, good compo and brilliant colours on the plus side, a bit soft (head and eye) and the tail cropped on the minus one. A good shot in any case!
Gabi

Hello Alan!

Hi Alan

This is a cutie. Nice catchlight and good depth of colour. Love the 'ready to fly' pose. Nice work. TFS.

beautiful image. amazing focus, colors. i love his eye! great pose. tfs

Hardly seen pose of this red robin Alan, exposure is great in the image, but I think the sharpness could have been a tiny bit better, there seem to be some detail missing in the shot. Still an image I would be proud of! Have a good weekend.

Alan bonjour, belle composition et attitude de ce petit Rouge Gorge interessante. Manque un peu de mise au point sur la tête. Any way good work, Didier.

Hi Alan.
Another excellent shot of your robin! I love your close up shot of this little bird, it looks really cute! Well captured. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Alan,
Another excellent shot of this robin. The detail and colors are amazing. Looks like he has his tail up ready to launch off the branch.
Scott

This is one of the most, well, weird photos of robin I've ever saw ;) I have feeling he will fall from that branch in a moment.
Photo is very interesting and of course: sweet, lovely, perfect ... ;)

Have a great weekend my dear friend :)

Alan, the "missing" doesn't bother me.

Besides, it's a rather funny image - and that's great.

I like colors and composition. Great exposure and bg too.

Funny POV looking at the bird's ass, LOL! A higher F stop might have helped the DOF but really a quite spectacular shot nontheless!

Stay away from those beers this holiday weekend or at least have a few for me. I'll drink a black and tan for you!

Your friend from the land of Elton John's other house,

Alli

Very beautiful photo.
Nice color and composition.
TFS.

Hi Alan,

Very nice pose, I really like it. The focus and DOF is good. Well done.
