[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After a long week of Flu and feeling very rough, I ventured outside this morning. Back to Startops in Tring.
This morning was quite pleasant, with clear blue skies and very little wind.
This Chaffinch was singing away quite happily, so I got a few shots off.

I've added some fact for you.

Fringilla coelebs

A common resident in most areas of Britain and Ireland. Scarce or absent from Shetland and Outer Hebrides.
Anywhere with trees or bushes from city centre parks to remote woodlands.

Sparrow sized. Male is very distinctive, with blue-grey crown and nape and orangey-red breast and cheeks. Double white wing bars prominent at rest and in flight. Female is duller green-grey, rather sparrow-like but the white wing bars and slimmer shape make identification easier.

Vocal, with loud, descending song with final flourish, and a number of common calls, especially a loud ‘spink'.

14 - 16cm (5.5 - 6.0 ")

Thanks for looking.

Thanks

Good pose and some action - singing. I also like the branch that you kept in the pic.

Alan, Great blue-sky BG. Not the usual pose..Gives me the impression this bird is lifting its head in song..I like it! I like the composition and the buds I see that speak of the coming springtime..Great job! PS - Can I borrow some of your blue sky? It's been poopy here again for days..

Great shot!
Interesting subject captured very with very good quality.
I think that this POV and composition work well to show this singing bird properly. Photo is maybe more original because of that.
I like it.
Well done!

Hi Alan, glad you are feeling better. It's a nice composition with good colours and I like the bird caught in song. I think cropping of the bottom and giving more room on top would work well here...if possible. Apart from that - nice work.

Great shot Alan, an unusual POV and pose.
Lovely blue background, good note also.

I sing in the sunshine, . . . He must be happyfor some blue sky, and so you to, not so, Alan. Good to here you are better. A sweet little birdie, with a BIG mouth. Nice details too.
POV is up towards the subject, since you were way below him - par for the course if birds are in the tre above one, can't be helped here, but try and get to the level of the subject if possible. Not meant as a nit.

Alan, I'd say this is one of the happiest shots I've seen on TN. After all, the bird just seems so... happy. Very nice mood with an excelent pov.

Congratulations.

This fella looks like he has plenty to sing about. Look at that perfect blue sky behind him. Thats enough to make anyone sing. He looks like he is giving a big effort to the song. Nice capture. Very pretty Chaffinch. Good colours and detail. Thanks
