[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Smooth Hawksbeard, Crepis capillaris, One of the hawksbeard family. (Related to daisies)

These can cause confusion and a bit of a "Hawkish" complex, what with, hawkbits, hawksbeards and hawkweeds and the closely allied catsears and ox-tongues. The trouble being the confusing similarity of their irrelevant "English" names causing difficulties ..an expert or a good book being essential for identification purposes.

This specimen is actually one of the commonest, found on grassy/waste places and along paths. It has the distinction of being the latest of the group to last till winter, this one being photographed early November.

ISO 200,
Shutter 1/80,
f/7.1
Manual focus.

It's nice to see the beauty brought out in a common flower.

Still me Howard,
Cette photo est magnifique, un super focus sur la fleur et l'arrière plan ressemble à une aquarelle,
bravo j'aime beaucoup

Hi Howard,

Wow. This thing really jumps out of the screen. I love the vibrant colours, the dof is perfect and I really like the pattern of the stems as they wind their way from bottom left. Very interesting and pretty shot.

Mike

hi howard,

nice pic. Though i aint a good photographer i felt that a blade of grass is distracting. was there any way u could have avoided it....one more thing i wanted to know... do u keep a back up of ur RAW files or discard them once u convert it to jpegs..

regards
vinay

Hello H
Definitely your best to date...The bloom has taken on an almost 3d quality which is highlighted by the great oof background...Very good use of tripod and manual focus to get sharp what you want and not what the af thinks should be.
