[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Before I give the usual drab description of this flower, I would like to thank everybody for the kind words and helpful critiques I have received on TNature. The help and advice I have had has been both invaluable and useful to enable me to improve my imaging. I have a long way to go before I am totally happy with my efforts, but it's a good journey to be on.

Luciano (lousat) has been consistently and honestly critiquing my efforts since I started to upload images, so, I feel this plant should be a dedication to him.

Honesty, Lunaria annua.
This plant/flower is a member of the "Brassica" family, cabbage type things..

Grows to about 1 metre tall, biennial, flowers can be between 28-32 mm across, and can form a large mass of several dozen flowers per plant. Flowering season is about April/June. Stalks are hairless. The seed pods are formed into large (7cm across) discs/flattened pods more familiarly seen in the dried state as decorative plants.

Becoming common on hedgerows, banks and waysides:- this one was found on the bank of a stream dividing the local golf course from the surrounding arable land.

Shot in RAW, manual focus, tripod, remote shutter, mirror lock and flash(diffused) all used.

ISO 200
Shutter speed, 1/250
F-stop f/10

PP work consisted of added contrast, slight sharpen and a crop to size,

Hi Howard,

A very dramatic macro. I would have loved to see a little more sharpness in the image, even if that meant lowering the mag the magnification.

All the best,

ishi

Hi Howard!

Very nice dedication and flower as well! Lighting is superb, and I like flowers shown soft too when they are soft live. And, to be honest let me add I find the composition a bit tight, but on the other hand the already stunning color gets even more effective this way. TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Beautiful color/soft light Howard!
The flower stands out well against the dark BG, as it dominates the frame..The soft look can work too :)
