Honesty, Lunaria annua.
This plant/flower is a member of the "Brassica" family, cabbage type things..

Grows to about 1 metre tall, biennial, flowers can be between 28-32 mm across, and can form a large mass of several dozen flowers per plant. Flowering season is about April/June. Stalks are hairless. The seed pods are formed into large (7cm across) discs/flattened pods more familiarly seen in the dried state as decorative plants.

Becoming common on hedgerows, banks and waysides:- this one was found growing at the base of a telegraph pole along a hedgerow.

As it was "precipitating" down (heavy rainfall) I decided to still go out with the camera, wrapping it in plastic bag and judicial application of gaffer tape. I don't see why a bit of rain should stop the fun of camera work.

I took a large white golf umbrella and a couple of LED lamps, set up the camera and lamps under the umbrella, piled in some light and got a few shots off. The bulk of water was shaken of of the plant, the remaining droplets are as is.

This image shot in RAW(as always) and is entirely "as is". No cropping, or any PP work whatever, only sized for upload. It may be a bit bright, and perhaps not even technically any good, but it's fun getting things under adverse conditions, it can only improve one's camera technique.

ISO 100
Shutter speed 1/320
F-stop f/11

Shot in RAW, manual focus, tripod, remote shutter, mirror lock and flash(diffused) and extra LED lights used.

It fills the screen with royal colour!
Excellent sharp details.
As you say, why should the rain prevent you taking good photographs!

Hi Howard.
First of all I am impressed with you decision so much. Your marking me as a favorite author is so dear for me and imposes a high responsibility. Hearty thanks.

I like your flower close-up series a lot. You managed to show all beauty of the wonderful flowers. Sharpness and details of the main subject are so superb as the nice blurred BG. Lights and darks are also so attractive and looked perfectly. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.
