Bulbous Buttercup, Ranunculus bulbosus.

It's the first of May, weather is lousy, wet, cold, dull. Hard Sunlight between showers. I wanted to get fifty flower images upload by the 1st May!! so I am quite happy to have been able to do this!!

This is the best I can get today. My series of wild plants are usually imaged and uploaded the same day, but there is so little out, I was lucky just to get this one partially open. I also take very few actual images of each species, so I carry very little "reserve" on file. This is one of just 3 shots I took... anyway,

Ranunculus bulbosus, Buttercups, yellow, to 40 cm, this is a hairy plant, the stem base being underground and swollen. Leaves are 3 lobes, and stalked, flowers 2-3cm across. The yellow is a bright yellow, and very reflective of light. This plant usually flowers May to June, so it was apt to get it on the first day of the month.

This plant prefers a drier meadow than creeping and meadow buttercups. It also prefers a lime soil.

ISO 100
F-f/9
Shutter speed, 1/320

Flash used (slight diffuser) shot in RAW, manual focus, remote shutter and mirror lock.

PP work, slight sharpen, (56% at 1.2 pixels) Extra contrast to boost the darker (green) striations on the underside of the petals.

Bonjour Howard
C'est un merveilleux macro et les couleurs de ces fleurs sont très jolies ,les détails et la composition sont supers.

Merci et au revoir....JP

Odd name...having a bulb is definition....well I guess correct but sounds odd..Very nicely coloured. I would add to my yellow theme but it is for Italianos!:-) Nice Howard!

Hi Howard, it's been a bit rubbish recently hasn't it? You did well to get even this. Fascinating clear detail and an excellent DOF. The little water droplet adds something a bit extra too.
