Bee, Bombus pratorum

This is a long haired shaggy looking bee, about 9-12 mm long,this one was imaged on a bramble flower.

The tail colouration of this one is clearly seen,orange/red and extends over abdomen.

If viewed, under the second leg is a parasitic mite, and tiny eggs. Other parasites appear on it's abdomen. I have noticed a reduction of Bombus in the flowers of late, and a fair percentage seem to carry this parasite.

Hi Howard. This is a fine macro of the Bee. You have capture such sharp focusing and fine detail in the body. with natural colours. Its interesting to see the parasite under its leg . Good use of the flash again. TFS.

Hi Howard,this is a little miracle,take so perfectly this terrible bombus it's too hard that win the lottery !! Superbe macro de ce bourdon les détails sont impressionnant et les couleurs parfaites, dommage que la fleur soit surexposée mais je reconnais que ce n'est pas facile, et ca n'en est pas moins une excellente photo bravo
