This is a rework of an image taken last year at Eagle Heights, Kent UK. The last shot was my initial artistic approach, this is a completely different way of seeing this Eagle in flight. I increased contrast using highlight/shadows and curves, burned in the clouds at the top and sharpened. Other than that and the crop it's the original image. The reason for the rework was to show the detail and colours in the feathers.

If my memory serves me correctly this was taken a few seconds before my last post.

Bald Eagle Haliaeetus leucocephalus.

Shutter speed 1/1000
Aperture f/8
ISO 160
Focal length 230mm
Weather Stormy with patchy sunlight

Hi Adrian,
Great capture of this bald eagle!
I like so much the sharpness got here, and the detail level achieved on the wing's plumage.
The high shutter speed gives you an excellent frozen image, is almost like a model kit that can be turned and seen from every angle.
It's very good also the head's definition.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hi Adrian.
Your creative approach has given us a very expressive picture. Really great POV and presentation of this majestic bird. As usual for your pictures the sky (at stormy weather) are reflected perfectly (by colour tones and details). Sharpness. details and colours of the eagle image are wonderful too. Cropping (if it is original) is great too. Next your amazing in-flight shot. Bravo and my best regards.

Hi again Adrian

With such an amazing definition on the feathers from your original shot, i'm amazed you didn't chose something more like this for your first post... :)
What an amazing catch!
I thought the first one was great (don't get me wrong...it is!) but this is simply phenomenal!
You really did a PERFECT job here keeping everything is 100% focus and super clear and sharp!
The pose of the eagle is also fantastic and that look in its eye is amazing!
Also, the contrast here is impeccably managed and that darker BG really makes the subjet stand out wonderfully while giving an interesting and almost grim atmosphere at the same time (you know in films when something's about to happen...you have that "jumpy" music louder and louder...that the feeling here, when he seems to be aproaching a prey).
Anyway...i gues what i'm trying to say here is that the colors and tones here, plus of course the subject, really makes my imagination fly :)
SPLENDID WORK!
A true favorite!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Adrian , this is a Top-Photo , perfect , TFS.

Hi Adrian,

This looks great! I like it better than the first one. The clarity of the feathers is much better as you can see all the detail in the plumage, and shows better tonal range in the darker browns. Nice job. :)

A very impressive spread eagle shot. The detail and sharpness of the plumage is really well done. The POV is amazing. The grey BG really makes the eagle stand out.Very well done.TFS

Hi Adrian,

A very dramatic image you have here. Great sharpness, DOF and detail. Very appealing composition. Good PP work. Well done! TFS.

Cheers,

Hi Adrain,
I've got no idea why somebody would want to report this photo. It seems to me that the PP work is within the TOS. It highlighted the details of the feathers perfectly. The inflight capture is really wonderful and it shows the majestic size of the bird perfectly. I find the dark clouds fit the photo perfectly, it helps to bring out the white colored head, but it also gives the photo an additional mood. A simply awesome photo.

Niek

Hi Adrian

Although I know that this shot was taken from a stationary vantage point at Eagle Heights I still cannot help but to get the feeling that it was taken from an in-flight micro-light gliding through the clouds with the eagle soaring alongside you. Quite another masterpiece from your lens.

The magnificent grace and movement of this remarkable bird are skilfully captured and conveyed via the medium of a still photograph. The impressive wingspan is quite…eh, well, impressive. The composition is nothing short of brilliant, the colours are well defined and marvellous, the details are superior, the BG is pure magic, and the exposure levels are extraordinary showing amazing contrasts in the plumage.

Exceptional work MF and TFS.

WOW. Now this is a dramatic in-flight eagle shot! Perfect exposure. Very rich and natural colors. Wonderful softly blurred sky. The DOF is the best I have seen for such a shot. The eagle really looks 3-D. The full wing spread in the vertical position with the eagle's head and eyes showing is a dynamic view. Outstanding photo!

Hi Adrian
Wonderful, you had an eagle posing for you.
The position of its body and wings as it turns is an ideal situation.Good details everywhere, set against a sky that gives a good contrast.

Charles

Hello Adrian,

I'm happy to give this wonderful in-flight picture the 100th point. It definitely deserves it! A great idea to shoot the bird during a curve flight to show the plumage from the upper side of the wings.

Composition:

The vertical composition is very appropriate to show the whole wingspan of this magnificent bird. I appreciate the simplicity and the lack of distracting objects. The generous empty space in the right side gives the Bald Eagle some space to fly in.

Colors:

The colors are warm and well saturated! I like the brown hues in the plumage of the bird. Also the blue color tones in the sky add to the beauty of the picture.

Contrast:

The contrast was very well adjusted. It emphasizes every feather in the subject. It was also well distributed between background and subject. The lower contrast in the background helps isolating the eagle.

Exposure:

A perfect exposure to render correctly both the shadows and the highlights. The details were preserved throughout the entire body of the bird. I like the fact that the area around the eye is well lit. The shutter speed was well chosen to freeze the bird's movement in midair.

Focus:

Focus is very accurately in spite of the moving subject. Did you use a continuous focusing mode to track the eagle? The DOF is deep enough to preserve the sharpness from one wingtip to the other.

A very good image with well written notes. Thank you for sharing!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie

Hi Adrian!
Very good picture! You made it in the exactly right moment and still kept an excellent sharpness-should be very difficult, but you managed it.The good colors of the Bald Eagle make a nice contrast to the background.Your point of view is also nice and I like the positioning of the eagle on the left side. The frame is simple but it matches to the picture-
Thanks a lot for sharing.

Greetings,Jonas
