[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is normaly a rare sight, a Badger out in broad daylight. This one however is out nearly every day at Wildwood, a reserve for British wildlife. During my time as a truck driver traveling mainly at night I got to see a lot of these in the wild, but in pitch darkness it's never easy to get a very good image of them. Sadly I see twice as many laying at the road side, casualties of being hit by vehicles. Unfortunatly, a fact of moden life, but I can't help but wonder if more could be done to reduce the numbers that perish.

My thoughts go out to all those that lost loved ones on this tragic day 5 years ago.

Beautiful detail of this badger's striped coat. Great DOF and lighting. The wood pile adds nice context to the composition.

Hello Mark,
Excellent shot, as you say it is rare to see these creatures in daylight. An estimated 50,000 Badgers are killed on Britains roads each year, I contributed towards having some 'Slow Down for Badgers' signs put up at known Badger crossings quite a few years ago. Lovely shot, just a little loss of detail on the head (was he on the move?). Great natural setting in a place I've yet to visit. Nice work.
Cheers,
Adrian

Nice to see a badger on TN! In Sweden they have built badger tunnels under the main roads in some places, but we still see lots of them dead along the roadside. Very sad!
You've pictured one in a nice pose with excellent focus.
Many thanks, Ulla

Nice to see them in daylight indeed.
From the pic we don't see that it's in a reserve. Nice too.
Nicely captured. Excellent composition.

Mark,

Very nice, I have never seen one of these.
Really well taken and presented.

Same here, coyotes, hares, deer, ect. road pizza. Shame.

Hi Mark,

Lovely shot of the Badger, its the first I've seen on TN but as you mention they are hard to see in daylight so I can understand why. The detail is good and the colours are nice and natural.

TFS Hilary :)

Lovely shot with a great pose from the badger. Excellent POV. Another wonderful mammal shot from you (I was stunned that none of your pictures were shortlisted on the ONE show)

A rare animal on TN, Mark.
Very sharp details and good exposure. with the light just right on the white.
Great POV of the pattern on the head. I also like the crisp focus on the claws right under his chin. Cute pose.
TFS. : )

Excellent shot Mark,
Really like your POV and framing..Very good light, color, and details. I dared a WS to enhance it a bit.
Well done.

Hello Mark,
You're right, the lighting is good!
And the image is well composed with a most pleasant balance between the elements...
Great natural colours and good details!
Greetings,
Pablo -
