A cold January day found this female Blackbird searching for food near my hide. Not as colourful as the male, missing that striking yellow beak and jet feathering, she is still a bonny bird in her own right.
Camera settings:- ISO 200, AV, Spot metering, 400mm focal length, 1.4 x converter, Hand held.

Wow Peter, this is a very fine shot. Beautiful colour and tones throughout. Pose from the Blackbird is perfect aswell as elegant. Very nice light and great detail and sharpness on the bird. perfect DOF. Superb.

Excellent capture of this female blackbird!
I like so much the composition made here, with the main axis of the bird aligned with the trunk's direction.
Excellent the DOF, the nicely background got and found very appropiated the exposure settings.

A beautiful shot of this bird, Peter.
I agree with you that some of the "duller" females are really pretty when you look more closely... in a more subtle way.
I really like the pose of the bird and the diagonal composition.
The focus and the exposure are perfect.
