Hello Everyone,

Well the spring has brought a lot of activity from the birds! The feeders in my garden have needed refilling every other day! That suggests there are a lot of hungry mouths to feed!

Here is evidence of sparrows breeding! This young sparrow was hiding under some leaves. It was very still, which is sensible behaviour of most young animals. (Predators are conscious of movement!) It was probably waiting for an adult bird to come down to it.

I watched for quite a while and then the bird disappeared. I'm sure that it was not found by any predatory animal.

Last year there was concern about a big drop in numbers of sparrows. I can agree that there weren't many about. However, this year, there are more sparrows than any other bird visiting my garden. In my area, they seem to be making a recovery.

Many thanks for your visit.
I hope you found it interesting.
Please feel free to offer me feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hi Beverley,
An interesting little note and a cute little fella amongst the leaves. The focus is slightly off (more on the leaves than bird) but its an interesting and original composition.Well done in searching him out.

Hi Bev,

I love these baby sparrows - they seem to be all around this year. Beautiful picture with the bird framed so nicely by the leaves. Lovely colors and nice natural colors. You have captured the typical baby expression very well. A pretty setting and I love your frame.

Hi Bev

A great composition - I like the livid green leaves which contrast so well with the young sparrow. I am way out in the country an the edge of a small village - we used to have around 6-7 sparrow nests in the soffits of our house - this year we my have 3, so they are just hanging on. At least three of the other sites have been taken over by starlings (who are much noisier) but they are also in decline.

Hello Bev,
We had these little ones in the garden too but now they're gone. They look so cute when they learn to fly and I love their broad yellow beak! Excellent close capture of this little one hiding in the flower bed. Well done!
