it was on its own in the compound..(name please)
the sign said..these birds bite
i kept a good distance away and didnt tempt it with any bird food.
weather forbid shadows and flash is not an option with a live animal.
come to think of it neither is food if they are in their natural habitat..learnt that fast enough on safari.

Hello Geof,
Wow, you're lucky to have found this stray Crane (Grus grus) probably on its way to southern Spain or North Africa. I don't think they're commonly seen in England! We get plenty here when they're passing in spring and autumn. Excellent capture, sharp details and natural colours. You must have been pretty close?
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Geof,
Great capture of the bird with sharp details. It's a ringed bird. You can see the ring on it's right leg. TFS.

Hello Geof,
A fine composition with the majestic crane!
Birdy gives a fine pose, and exposure of white plumage is well done...
An elegant bird well captured, usually I see the here on their way up North during month of May...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Geof.
What a great quality of the picture and nice captured scene. Amazing DOF and crisp sharpness of the bird and grass images. It is a pity a bit that the cropping on the bottom is strong a bit (I mean the bird's legs). However, great job. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.
