Hello Everyone,

The few days of sunshine have really had an incredible effect on the spring flowers. The daffodils are now open and nodding their golden heads in appreciation of the warmth!

When I was young, we used to sing a song about flowers and the daffodil was called the king. I don't find this in the least bit surprising as it is such an upright, proud flower, shining with gold!

Wordsworth did a lot for their popularity.
Here are the first two verses of his famous poem:

"Daffodils" (1804)
I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

This really does describe them in profusion!

I have posted only two of them. These are naturalised and growing in the hedgerow.
They were nodding contentedly together.
Hand help at abouthalf a metre.

pp cropped, sharpened, selected daffodils and blurred b/g, added soft light to give them an auora, added border at 30% oppacity, signed

Many thanks for your visit, please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hello Beverley,
Lovely! A true sign of spring!
A bit too early here, I'm afraid, as there are still some snow left...
Macro work is well done, fine details and the colours are well reproduced!

Hello Beverley,
I love daffodils and I remember them blossoming already in early February in Dorset but you're further up north of course!
In our garden we've only got the mini Daffodils out so far. This is a lovely spring capture in wonderful colours. It lacks depth of focus but that doesn't worry me here but I do find your frame a bit distracting, personally I would have had a more discreet frame. Lovely poem too!
Many thanks and I hope you have a lovely Easter vacation!
Best wishes, Ulla

Hi Beverley!

This morning, the sun shines again after some cloudy and rainy days. I therefore decided to continue this bright morning by contemplating your simple, yet very pleasant picture that also is a fine spring messenger.

Kind regards
