Hello Everyone,

I feel I should have a name for this little fellow!
We became more than acquaintances as I followed him trying to get a shot! If he were a child, he would certainly have been called hyper-active.

Blue Tits visit our garden quite regularly and are often seen pecking into the hanging baskets as well as doing acrobatic stunts on the feeders.

Here is some further information about Blue Tits and their habits from British Garden Birds:
Blue Tits feed mostly on insects, especially caterpillars, and seeds. In springtime they feed also on pollen, nectar and sap, and in the autumn on berries.

In the garden they search among the plants and crevices for insects (e.g. aphids, beetles, and caterpillars) and spiders, but also take sunflower hearts or high energy seed from bird feeders, or peck at a suet food bar or peanuts.

They are one of the most agile birds, and they will entertain for hours by hanging upside down from feeders, branches, etc. They are also opportunists and will often peck through foil milk bottle tops for the cream.

Blue Tits, and other tits, also peck putty around windows, usually at winter time. Some may simply be hungry and attracted to the linseed oil in the putty, though it is thought more likely that they are simply searching for food.

Many thanks for you visit.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Hello Bev a fine catch considering how hyper they are, I have many times pressed the trigger and found no bird in the shot or a blurred leg from the side, they really are very quick. nice one tfs rgds Necip

Hi Beverley,
Excellent shot of this tiny and charming Blue Tit with amazing colours and details on its plumage. Fabulous pose you have captured here and it seems to be looking out for food going for the jugular. I like the BG which illustrates the dense habitat well. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.
TFS.

Hi Bev, very good shot of this Blue Tit, well composed, with great colour. Your note is excellent. I didn't know anything about these characteristics of theirs. Since they sort of look like a North American Chickadee, which I am familiar with, I guess I just assumed they had similar characteristics...wrong!

Thanks, John

Hi Beverley,

Very good shot of Blue Tit in action. Good pose and composition with sharp details and natural colours.

Hi Beverley.
Very cute shot of the nice tit at attractive scenery. I like composition of the image, nice twig pattern and pleasant smooth BG, very good delicate colours and details of the bird image. TFS and kind regards.
Alexei.

Hi Bev,
I like the pose and pov you managed here with this Tit.
Lovely birds. I also like how you composed the image with the bird off center with more space infront of the bird. Since you asked for feedback ... IMO I think sharpening the bird more and increased light would improve this shot.
TFS Richard

PS: I have posted a Workshop for you to show what I mentioned.

Hello Bev. Looks good on that perch. Nice perspective with well muted background. Pleasant crop and beautiful framing. Best regards. Jusni

Hello Beverley,
They come in numbers to fight with the magpies for dry bread I feed them!
Well I guess fight is not the word since the tits slip in when the large guys are finished...
This is a cute capture with good details in your feathered friend!
Greetings,
pablo -
