| Their common name milk frog refers to the poisonous,white,milky secretion that this frog secretes when threatened.Amazon milk frogs are fairly large, attaining sizes of 6.3cm to 10.1cm in length. They are light grey in color with brown or black banding.As juveniles their pattening is much more contrasting,and fades as they age.Amazon milk frogs inhabit humid rain forest regions,they often inhabit vegetation wich extends over permanent slow moving water sources.Like most other species of frogs they are carnivorous,they will consume almost any small arthropod they can overpower and swallow.info from Wikepedia.Photograph taken in Chester Zoo reptile house,using a Canon 350D,100mm Macro lens,and a small remote flash gun,125th / f11,100 asa,through glass window.Sharpened and reposted 31.5.08 |
