Hi Nigel, A masterpiece work in all around. After the larva capture, this adult completed our knowledge on this gem. I liked its camouflaged colours and pattern. Diagonal composition is also great my friend.

Witaj,
podoba mi się to zdjęcie - nigdy nie widziałam podobnej ćmy...
Pomimo mało kontrastowego ubarwienia udało ci się pięknie wyeksponować owada. Dobry kadr, przyjemne naturalne tło.
Sama modelka bardzo elegancka...;-)

What a beautiful moth. : )
Your sharp details show the "furry" texture of the scales and the subtle, but beautiful patterns on the wings very clearly.
I know that butterflies and moth wings are covered with scales. But that is a concept that eludes me. What are these scales made of, and how can moth scales be so long as to simulate hairs?

Hello Nigel,
Most of us 'cheat' by cropping and composing the image as part of the PP work, but to take such a full frame image of C. vinula in a perfect composition with only a little sharpening afterwards is a fine example of nature photography to us all.
