[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As I promised here is an adult male Black-tailed Skimmer, Orthetrum cancellatum. You can see show the blue colour has progressed in comparision to the immature specimen I posted last. This blue colour is known as pruinescence and this waxy bloom develops as the dragonfly matures, many species of dragonfly and damselfly exhibit this.

O. cancellatum often enjoy large prey showing a liking for butterflies, grasshoppers and even large damselflies. In keeping with a medium sized dragonfly that thinks big, mature males will occupy territories that may be as big as 50m of bank. They will defend this territory aggressivly towrard other males.

I hope you like the picture.

Aaah, the adult Black-tailed at last.
Did you consider a panoramic format for this one ? (I wonder whether there is not too much space above, in my humble opinion).

A perfect DOF, again I read your technical info and I try to learn for myself. Excellent details and light.
One question : at 1/320, was the tripod mandatory ? Is that because you shot with a 500mm focal lens ?

Thank you very much for sharing, Paul.

Impressive macro Paul, perfect sharpness and DOF.
Well done on this composition, the BG is superb and the colors are wonderful.

Bravo!
