I finally made it to London Butterfly House today.
After what could possibly be the worst journey imaginable, the day turned out to be quite a success.
The London Butterfly house is in Syon park in Brentford (only 35 miles from my home, but I hate driving around London, so opted for the previously trusted, British Rail & London Underground.....big mistake).
The Butterfly house is a bit smaller than I expected, but fortunately wasn't too busy, even though today was a bank holiday.

This is my first post from the Butterfly house, this is a Clipper (Parthenos sylvia lilacinus)
Family: Nymphalidae
Subfamily: Nymphalinae
Latin name: Parthenos sylvia lilacinus
Common name: The Clipper
Wingspan: 100
Larval food: Passifloraceae or Menispermiceae

is a link to The London Butterfly House website.

I hope you like this butterfly, Thanks for looking

Good photo, Alan.
Superb sharpness and details, lovely DOf.
But I don't like the crop.
Tfs!

Hi Alan!
I'm back.
Your photo i s just wonderful. I love details and composition. Admirable butterfly!

The insect is wonderfully captured but the background and leaves are too fried by the flash bounce or the artificial lightning ...

Hi Alan!
Looks very good. Sharp and detailed, composition is nice, looks like in natural environment. Little advice - if you'll going to travell via train or metro, always take good book :-)

Very nice macro Alan. You've maximized the F/5 with excellent details and sharpness seen in the head, legs, thorax and antenae..You have a great POV with great light and colors. Love them spotted eyes, Well done!

Very nice shot Alan!
Great POV, DOF and details. Colour of BG is quite strange, but the rest is really good.
I like it very much.
Well done!

Great macro, Alan.
Great light, very good details, well composed and nice colours.
Excellrnt work.

Lovely macro Alan. Very nice detail and sharpness. You selected a great DOF and I like your composition. Reflections are a bit distracting - maybe a polariser would help but you'd lose out on speed or DOF. Great image, TFS :)
