f/18, 30s and so sharp (no noise)!
Nice macro, and composition. I will prefer to have his front legs not cut ... (seem to be sharp)

Why do you need a lively bg with such a vibrant subject? This is a stunning close up, great detail. You have captured the black and whites perfectly.
Thanks for posting.
Have a look through this site, it's a bit of a trawl but you may find something...

Super shot, just beautiful. Excellent work and well done on the composition and details.
Again as I mention in some cases, it's ART, one must understand why, the point of view.
It's PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Alan, all I could find out about this when I posted one was:
Ideopsis gaura perakana (The Small Wood Nymph)(FAMILY : Nymphalidae) (Subfamily : Danainae) The Ideopsis gaura is a rather rare butterfly from Tapah Hills, Perak, Malaysia. It is quite a slow flyer and is attracted to flowers.
That was the name we were given at our Butterfly House, so I looked up that on Google.
Your photo is excellent - so up close and sharp to see. Super shot of it. Well done.

An intensely close view of this butterfly, Alan!
I am not sure anyone looking at this image would notice the BG at all, if you hadn't mentioned it.
Your POV is the key in this well composed shot. Well done and TFS.

Wow, that is fantastic, Alan. I really really like the composition, the way you framed it in a diagonal, and the way you cropped it, emphasizing the stripes and the antennae. The details are incredibly sharp. TFS. : )

Great close-up of this sweet creature, not a monster at all ;-)

Hi Alan, very nicely composed close-up. Great details here even to the 30 seconds. My only nit is, image seems to need some more saturation IMO. but a great image to look at.
Very well done.

Alan, the bg is not a problem to me at all.
Besides, this capture is really nice. In fact, I have the feeling the butterfly is smiling, and, because of that, I don't think it's scary.
I've always a similar shot, and you did great on this.
Congratulations.

Wow, that butterfly posed for you for 30 seconds? It must have found you very charming, LOL!!
Wonderfully sharp photo, full of great detail. The dull background actually goes well with the B&W butterfly.

This is an original way of showing a butterfly, Alan. You took very well advantage of the high contrasted body to come out with an impressive view, well framed and with very good head details. Another way of looking at butterflies. Good idea and very well done!
