[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I haven't got a clue what this strange creature is that appeared before me in my garden. I know I have seen similar ones, but they were green. I don't know whether they are the same insect changing colour to suit their surroundings, or a different type entirely.
All I know is that it flies, and crawls around very slowly!

Thanks to Cosmin for the ID, now I can provide a little information:-

These bugs take their name from North America where they are a great pest, eating squashes and other gourds. In Britain, they are found in a wide range of reasonably open habitats where they feed on docks, knotweeds, sorrel and Persicarias. Later in the year the adults can be found feeding on fruits such as blackberries (where this one was found) and other seed heads before they go into hibernation.
The adult bug is red-brown in colour and can often be very dark. They are 14-15 mms long.
On the head between the bases of the antennae, there are two small but distinct horns. The antennae have only four segments.
They can be found from April until October.
