[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I got this one at the Wetland centre in London. The weather was windy and bloody cold but at leatst there was a little sun to enjoy.

Grey heron
Ardea cinerea
The largest European heron. It can stand with neck stretched out, looking for food, or hunch down with its neck bent over its chest. In flight it holds its neck retracted and has large rounded wings. It is usually solitary although several birds may feed fairly close together. It stalks its food, often standing motionless for some considerable time. It usually feeds close to the bank or shore, but may wade out into shallow water.

I hope you like it. The quality is not so great but I was shivering with the cold so I expect there was a bit of camera shake.

The light plays well, here, Paul. I like very much your PoV. The composition is excellent. I know what you are talking about: "shivering with the cold" so I forgive you ;-)
Congratulations for the 4,000 pts well deserved.
Thanks a lot.

Excellent lighting - good pose. Well captured.
Your note was funny in describing the cold and I can just imagine what it was like for you :)

Very good picture Paul.
Great pose, details , composition and light..
Great work.

Congrat to your 4000 points.
It's very well-earned for all great pictures and to have been a very active member. Go for next 4000 with your new camera.

Aarrghh.. This is much better than I have. :) Still on my wishlist to get a proper shot of this pirate. Great shot, Paul.

Congrats clearing the 4000+ mark. You have been right there from the start setting the pace and helping others (myself included) with ID's. Besides being an excellent photographer I also consider you a friend and our resident entomologist.

Stay with the play!

Excellent shot Paul. Nice pose and good DOF. I see noi camera shake at all. Congrats on the 4000 pts well done

Although... I was happy with mine,n untill this photo.

Hendrik

Nice composition Paul, but the sky is disturbing me, another POV would have been better.
Good details and colours.
TFS.

Paul, Congratulations on the 4000th. It's significant because it demonstrates your love for photography. Hold on to it! You're gonna have to let me know how you like the 20D after you've used it for a while. I'm taking my time on this next camera purchase..oh yeah, your photo ;-). I like the composition alot. Very good detail & the natural light works great here. Well done! P.S. I guess 4002 will have to come from someone else! Pts later..

Hi Paul. Congrats for your 4000 p. You would get them If I had "pennies" as you say, but I am poor, so you will have to wait until next critique :D
Beautiful composition, pose and lighting. Your olympus must be crying at home when you take this shots!

Hi Paul Calassic compo on this guy, and the beady eye is clear and bright. I like the overall impact and hope you continue on the feathered ones. I still have a few creepies, but next week - you need a break to consentrate on the birds. No distractions allowed.
Good to see you broke 4k, keep up the good work.

Paul, another great one. Excellent pov and sharpness. Very nice pose.

You mention on your note the quality is not so great. I don't think so. To me, that's really ok, despite the cold weather.
