I have often been to the Walthamstow reservoirs to see the Grey Herons as there are hundreds of them. I love these birds but have had no luck getting any photo worth keeping.
In April 2005 I visited the London Wetland centre. What a great place it's like an oasis in the middle of London, so many wild birds and they are used to seeing lots of people so just carry on going about their daily lives. I managed to get this Heron fishing and he seemed totally unaware of us. It was a thrill to be so close to this bird, that I have tried to photograph for years and get a half decent photo of it. This photo was taken with a Canon 10D not 20D

Very nice capture. Very sharp and well composed. A small negativity about the white on herons head.
