Hello Andy!

Good shot. Maybe not your best, but still very interesting macro. I like pose of this small insect, its big eyes and very detailed body. DOF is ok for this kind of photo in my opinion. Maybe not beautifull but still very interesting/ :-) And you wrote about your archives - we're all waiting for Spring...

Hello Andy,
Very interesting shot. Maybe I could pick some nits, but not too many. As for the framing. The fly pose is strange and the fly itself looks that way, so I think maybe it would be worth to emphasize it and frame the picture very tight and in a vertical way.
Anyway, well done on this one!

Hi Andy,
Well worth saving! Although it could have used more DOF, it appears to have been hand held so this was probably necessary. I think the colors and detail are excellent in the head area. Beautiful OOF backround!

Hi Andy,
A nice shot, I think sometimes a shallow DOF works well, it may mean that the shot is not technically perfect but I think it adds depth and interest, and it works very well here. I was never one for rules :-) I like the POV, and detail/colours are excellent. Good note too, a great post.

Very impressive dung fly. Wow, I never thought that I would ever say something like this. I think I will steer clear from any nit picking as you have done enough yourself (chuckle).
The angle of your POV in itself makes this a very interesting composition. The colours are marvellous. The DOF is pretty adequate with lots of details. BG is great and exposure was well managed.
