[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Well for those who have had enough of the fungi (there will be more) here is a member of the Labiatae family who you can always spot by their square stems which you can see here. Within the family are such plants as the Mints, thymes , sages, bugles and this one The White Dead Nettle (Lamium albium), dead because although it carries the nettle name this one is not a pain to be with. quiet the oposit in fact. this one is a healing herb. though common though out most of europe I have always just thought of it as a way-side plant. but apparently you can eat it like spinnage as a vegtable. but this is the least of its properties it can be used as an infusion for eczema externally and for a whole load of internal blood disorders.you can also make mouth washes to gargle for sore throats and mouth.
The flowering period seems to be a long one, it depends on which book you look at but they say in total from March through to December and I have seen the odd flower in sheltered corners after this.
Taken in my mum's garden in one of the wilder bits mixed into a nettle bed that is on top of an old manure heap mixed in with the real nettles (Urtica dioica) the painfull sort (ouch and more OUCH while kneeling down to get the picture)under the shelter of a bank full of elderberry and hawthorn tree's which as a hedge and edge of wood plant is in a normal situation.
You might note that the speed is up at 1/1000sec this is beause the flower is so white and I was trying very hard to throw the back ground out of focus , and the I could not open the aperture anymore because the 1/1000sec is the fastest the Sony will shoot at.
Adjustments.

I am glad that I am not the only that takes a long time to do a note and I assure you it is not my typing speed that delays me. This seem to be a useful plan to have around, especially after dinner at the mother in law:). The image is sharp and the colors great. Thanks for posting.

Unknowns, Fungi, light effects and now natural medicine. Robert the diversity is fascinating. Very nice capture of this plant. Your adjustment to the speed worked. Thanx for sharing.

A nice shot, excellent detail with very good controlled DoF.
They look very much like the stinging nettles and until now I've never seen this plant.
Excellent and informative note too.

Very pretty, Robert. I knew right away it had to be in the mint family as your photo shows wonderful detail of the stem and leaves . Interestingly, I have what we call " Cat Mint" in my garden that has the same flowers only a pale pink/lavendar. Obviously another member of the same family.

Good image Paul.
Goo sharpness with good details and very nice colours.
Great note.
Well done
