Forest Bug
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
One of the members of the family of True Bugs, this is a FOREST BUG Pentatoma rufides this one is not quiet adult as it has no wings yet but is still about 12mm long in the body. This species is faily omniverous, feeding by sucking the fluids from both fruits and also caterpillars and other insects with the long probe you can see held under the body in the side veiw on the left.

Hi Robert,
A very smart presentation!
I like so much the idea of make the two picture's join by the inclined line, following the inclination of the insect on both images.
You got a very good detail level with this close approach to the insect, specially clear in the probe.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM
Hello
You have answered a question I have had about a bug I have done macros of lately! I will post one next and look for confirmation. This shot is most welcome with the Note. Didn't know you were a "bugman"! ;) Tfs, J.
Nice POV combo of this interesting omniverous bug Robb.
It reminds me of the soldier bugs we have in New Zealand. My favourite is the Schellenbergs with the points on the shoulders. It eats a few pests, like Eucalyptus Tortoise Beetle, and is considered a valuable bug here.
Great post, and thanks for 100,000 others ;)
Hi Robert,
I like the split screen view of you photo, it displays the forest bug very nicely. Nice sharp image with good DOF, bg is a little grainy. A good shot. The mouth probe in the left photo is at least half as long as its body, one might think it would be difficult to use.
regards
Matt.
Hello Robert!
Very nice composition presenting bug from 2 different points of view :) I like this presentation even if it is note very colourful. By the way, specimen on the right side is a larva - it does not have fully developed wings (or maybe this on the left is the some?).
TFS and have a nice evening!
