[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Two-Spot Ladybird, yes it doesn't have two spots I hear you say. Well I wrote to someone that knows alot about ladybirds and here is his take on this shot. (The series of shots, including this one, I sent Paul Mabbott are also interesting as it shows the Ladybird eating pollen. They do this when aphids are hard to find. It's something I didn't know)

"A very brief note about the genetics of two spots (there are volumes on this
and it isn't as simple as this). Basically the annulate series of patterns
(what we have on most 2-spots) run from all black to all red, neither of
which are seen in this country (the all black form is not uncommon in Japan
while the all red form is found in the Caucasus). The patterns are
controlled by three sets of linked genes. If all three are black you have
all black, if all three pairs are red then you have all red. If there are
mixtures (some genes red, some black, in various combinations), the all
black form develops two, four, or six red patches (melanics - the 4-spotted
form is the most common variant of 2-spot pattern). With further red genes
there is more filling up with 8, 10, 12 red spots which join together and
end up at the strong annulate form you have pictured. More red can appear
leaving two or one black bar across the ladybird, then four or eventually
two black spots - the 'typical' 2-spot form that we know so well."

Is that clear? :-)

So where is the two spots> :) If I compare this to the black two spot I posted here it looks a whole lot different.

The composition is great and so is the sharpness.

Thanks for posting

This is such a beautiful macro. Great job.

I like this image very much.
The colrs are great and you do not have this greenish look.

what type of filter is the Skylight - I am looking for ways to reduce the greens in my nature photography.

Paul, I guess I've told you but, anyway, let me tell you (maybe once more) that I've been trying to find one of these for quite a long time. So far, I have not been successful.

Great capture. I like pov and colors. Nice blurred bg.
