[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This little Wren was busying collecting dead leaves to make a tiny nest in an Ivy bush right next to the river. I pre-focused on a perch he regularly landed on and sure enough there he was a few seconds later. Not as detailed and sharp as I'd like but the shutter speed wasn't very high.

I hope you like this one!

Latin name
Troglodytes troglodytes

Family
Wrens (Troglodytidae)

Overview
The wren is a tiny brown bird, although it is heavier, less slim, than the even smaller goldcrest. It is dumpy, almost rounded, with a fine bill, quite long legs and toes, very short round wings and a short, narrow tail which is sometimes cocked up vertically. For such a small bird it has a remarkably loud voice. It is the commonest UK breeding bird, although it suffers declines during prolonged, severely cold winters.

Where to see them
Found across the UK in a wide range of habitats - woodland, farmland, heathland, moorland and islands. Most are found in deciduous woodland but it is least abundant in Scotland and northern England, with the smallest numbers found in upland areas. A regular visitor to most gardens.

When to see them
All year round.

What they eat
Insects and spiders

Thanks!

Ciao e grazie, Emanuele

Hi Joey

I am sure Francine will be glad to see the new lens went straight into use! Lovely capture of the wren, though mine never actually make a nest but that could be something to do with the wren bird box they do use. Great sharpness and clarity... still saving for the lens myself!

Hi Joe,

Priceless! This Wren with the leaf is wonderful. Looks like he's posing with it for the camera. All the cactus wrens are running around here with their mouths full - no one leaf at a time for them.

Jane

Superb shot! The white branch at the left creates a little bit of distraction, but otherwise it makes a great picture.
