[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this shot on last Saturday while on a walk with some members from the local nature society.
This guy came very close probably within 15m!
Sun wasn't really one my side and resulted in a partially silhouetted effect but I brightened it as much as I dared in PS so hopefully you'll still like it! :-)

This is a dedicated to Pekka (Pekkavalo1) for his stunning photos of British birds and his advice and help through email. Thanks Pekka!

Thanks for viewing!

Very nice Joe, an excellent capture that Pekka will surely love. I have heard on the news this week that these and other Birds of Prey are under increasing risk of poisoning and trapping from farmers and land owners in the UK...such a shame.

Hi Joe,
A lovely capture of this beautiful red kite. Excellent flying action shot with sharp details and lovely composition with very good timing. A nice dedication too. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Joe,
a nice in-flight shot with sharp details, but it's a bit dark,
it's not easy to shot against the sky, you could open up 1-1,5 step. Well composed with fine POV.
Well done.

Hello Joe,
Lovely action capture.Cross framing is wonderful.
I'm using EV +1 when shooting against the sky!
Well done!

Hi Joe,

Thanks for dedicating this impressive picture! Lighting and composition are very good, details are very sharp even with the post-processing that was needed. The birds flying position is very good to show all details. Colours are also very well restored and natural. Excellent work Joe!

Best wishes

Pekka

"So I was like just walkin down the road and saw this fantastic bird, took a picture and went on to the grocer and came back home ans posted it"....almost as causal as a man strolling down the road and simply clicking once then walking on...so every day and what do we end up with? Well at your age....had I been so talented...perhaps I might be humbled by my own work...Truly an amazing site not only for us but especially for you seeing it this way first hand....super Duper Joey! Very well done!

It is superb and you worked well with PS because it doesn't show that you brightened the shadows underneath the bird. We don't have the kites here, not that I know of, only maybe three species and they don't have the same names at all! I really like this beautiful bird, fantastic plumage with a lot of details captured. Nice dedication too and keep up the good work Joey,

Hi Joe,

A nice dedication to our friend Pekka. A bit too dark but still a beautiful Kite showing off his wonderful wings. I love the position he is in and the sharp details of his face, wings and plummage.

Hi Joe

Great in-flight shot of the Red Kite
Nicely composed with a great POV and lovely pose.
Good details and nice colours, as you said you could have done with a little more light but we can't always get what we want and the light on the head is nice.

Hi Joe

Great view of this wonderful kite. Excellent pose and lighting - really good detail in the feathers. Red Kites have also been reintroduced to Northamptonshire (not that far away) and I have seen them round my house a few times recently.

James

Perfect! Will be back ;-)

Superb capture of this raptor in-flight my dear friend, Owlman JOe;)
TFS and also thanks for your kind comments on my 100th post.
Cheers,

Bayram

A perfect in-flight capture with finely frozen movement and high definition Joe, the formed diagonal also superb my friend, TFS indeed!
Mehmet

Hello Joe,
Fantastic that you could take such a close in-flight of a Red Kite and you did it withy fine sharpness and from a good POV. I agree with Gert that it is a bit too dark so I tried the WS.
Even so this is a great shot and a fine tribute to Pekka and thanks for sharing it.
Cheers,
Ivan

Hello Joe,
We often see the Red Kite here but I've not yet managed a good enough in-flight shot of it! This is really fine with great focus on the eye and the wing pens nicely spread out. Beautiful colours and well composed.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Joe!

Maybe it lacks a bit of light, but it's still a magnificient picture. I'm trying hard to do the same, because we have a couple of the Red Milan living near our home. We see them every day and the often use the thermals above our hillock. It's such a marvellous bird, you have captured it very well: the whole wingspan is present, the details are rich and the picture is crystal clear.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Joe,

Amazing is this flight..
Beautifull capture, well timed.
