[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a male Broad-Bodied Chaser from our trip to the New Forest yesterday.

Here's some info on this insect:

The Broad-bodied Chaser, Libellula depressa, is a European dragonfly. The approximate wingspan of the broad-bodied chaser is 70 millimeters. The dragonfly is mainly found in Wales and Southern England. It is active between the months of May and August.

Habitat
It is seen near still-water lakes and ponds, and they feed on many types of small insects.

Identification
The female has a brown abdomen with two yellow stripes. The male has a pale blue abdomen. Because of the male's pale blue abdomen, they can be confused with the Black-tailed Skimmer, or Orthetrum cancellatum. Both the male and female broad-bodied chasers have dark brown, triangular patches at the base of all four wings.

Behaviour
Their flight is very fast as they dart and dive above the water looking for food and fighting away rival males and any other Dragonflies they happen to encounter. They characteristically return to a favoured perch, in the sun. They can be hard to get close views of but if seen near some woodland they may allow you to observe them.

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful capture.POV,sharpness,DOF and framing are excellent.
Thanks for posting.

Hello Joe
First of all it was great to meet you and your Dad Yesterday and I hope you both had as good a day I did.
Now for this superb capture..The dof you chose here was spot on resulting in really sharp details..The fill flash has really helped and given a nice catchlight to the eye..Perfect placement in the frame and a super bg which really highlights the subject perfectly...Brilliant work and I know that memory card of yours is holding a few more gems!!
All the Best
Paul

Looks like one of Boeings new Jumbo Wide body planes:-) It certainly appears to have a bit more girth than many. Very sharp...nice and not too contrasty ya know?! Tres bien Joey....Do they still teach French as a second language in England?

Nick..

Buen encuadre.

A nice shot from a nice day. I like the way you have caught the colours towards its tail, it almost has a water like shine to it.
