| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I took this while out fishing. This bold little robin landed about 4 feet from me, by my right shoulder. The image has a bit of digital noise, the Minolta is not good in low light that way, and I was in the middle of the woods. Trying to turn and grab a picture without scaring it away was fun.
According to the BBC nature program SpringWatch, the nesting season is hard on small song birds. They are literally run ragged finding and delivering food to their broods. By the end of the season when the fledglings have finally flown the coop, the parents really look the worse for wear. They spend the rest of the year recuperating. This one looks like it's been through the mill.
I ran this through Paint Shop Pro Photo XI using the clarify tool and color correction for 'fading'. Any suggestions on how to improve it would be welcome. |

Hello Michele,
Very nice capture of this cute robin.POV,catchlight in eyes, pose of bird and composition are wonderful.Excellent work!
TFS..:-)
Just look at that face. Doesnt it just make you want to feed the poor thing, such a hopeful look. I am sure it must be practising that expression in every little pool of water it sees.
Well Captured Finns
Hello Michele! I think this little guy is in a pensive mood, possibly watching you watching him? Great POV! You have gotten the bird in as sharp focus as the branch and those wonderful little leaves in the foreground. This is something I'm still struggling with. Good job, sweet capture! Thanks, Linda
Hello Michele
Welcome to TN - you have some lovely shots in your portfolio!
As for this one - I would recommend trying Neat Image to reduce some of the noise, and/or maybe a tighter crop around the subject. I'm originally from Sussex, some 34 years ago now, and I can identify with many of your birds and fishing spots!
Thanks for sharing, and keep up the excellent work!
Regards,
Jeff
