Evening Primrose after Rain

Having left all my holiday photos at work, I thought that rather than go back to work (never a good move at the best of times) and collect them, I would upload a macro I took yesterday morning after it had rained all night.
Some of you will remember that I have only recently purchased a true macro lens and after a few false starts, have been on a macro training course and have had some practice whilst I was on holiday. This picture was taken first thing in the morning after it had rained heavily the night before, and then with some early morning sunshine, I was able to capture this single flower from the Evening Primrose plants that grow wild in my garden.
Anyhow, I have to admit to being quite pleased with this picture. It is more a close-up than a macro becuase I was not at the closed point at which the lens would focus, therefore not using the 1:1 ratio, but had to be further out to capture more of the flower. I have deliberately kept the green parts of the flower stem OOF for this photo.
There are a couple of highlights where the sunshine on it has caught in the water droplets, but I felt it more real leaving them alone in this instance.
Common Evening Primrose (Oenothera Biennis) flowers in the evening and through the night and are polinated by moths and bees. Moth caterpillars also feed on the leaves as well, so it is a useful flower (if invasive - though easily removed from places not wanted) in the garden. The specimens in my area grow to 1-1.25m in height and flower for long periods with a few fresh flowers each night.

What a wonderful use of the lighting. Primrose is an apt name for this. The drops of moisture add to the picture as well. Simply lovely.

Lovely light & color, the dark BG works really well here..I think the wide frame gives it a calming effectas well. Just the right amount of sharpness for this, nice detail & POV. And the water droplets covering the primrose and that magic :)

Hi Emma,
I've never seen this flower before. This might be because we don't have it in our country, or I am just waking up too late. It is a lovely flower to see with looks to me to be really delicate. You managed it perfect close up where the 'creative' DOF is really to my liking. I love how the flower got illuminated by the sun and how the sun is captured in the drops. The black BG brought out the colors and details perfectly.
