[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Members of this genus are among the most abundant of hoverflies, and this species is is a female belongs to the subgenus Eoseristalis. Members of this subgenus are pale on the basal half of the hind tibia, or else it is completely pale. This is a common species, occurring throughout Britain and Ireland. It is familiar in gardens, urban waste ground and other open habitats and will visit a wide variety of flowers. Larvae have been reported from farmyard drains and temporary pools with cow dung, so presumably other similarly polluted sites will also suffice. The flight season of this fly is April to November, peaking in July and August.

The notes are mainly from a fantastic book, British Hoverflies by A.E. Stubbs S.J. Falk.

I hope you like it.

Beautiful and nice shot. Sharpness and DOF are great.Well done my frient.

Ricardo told me recently that when he sees a mushrooms he can avoid thinking in me, and I realized the same thing happens to me, in my photo-walks when I see a Hoverfly I can avoid thinking in you Paul.
Now anybody hears us, I wonder looking at your shots, what would you do with a SLR with F:22 or F28. I think all of us making macros with F8 should have a conpensation point factor :DDDDD
Greetings.

a cracking shot so much detail is to be seen in it. nice one.
Does the book have good referance picture as most books seem very limited and either have only 3 or 4 species or mainly discribed in text only?
