a quick photo of a blackbird on the lawn, at the moment he is too busy looking for food to feed his mate who is sitting on the nest in a nearby bush, to worry about how close I am.
Not easy to photograph black you have to have good light to show enough texture, so if anyone has any tips let me know. |

Hello Sue,
If this is anything to go by, you don't need any tips about getting the plumage texture right on a Blackbird.
This is a fine capture with good sharpness, comp., pose, POV and contrasting BG.
TFS and regards, Ivan
Very pretty shot Sue. Good combination of frame and object. Well done. tfs. Stev

Hi Sue, lovely photo of the blackbird. I try to catch them but they never come out well. You have achieved a very good exposure giving good tones and shadows on the black feathers. Beak and eye are perfectly sharp. Good DOF.

Hi Sue.
You are quite right. To photograph black birds is too difficult but you have solved this problem perfectly. Excellent exposure, colours and composition. Sharpness and details of the bird image is simply wonderful. Well done and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Sue,
Congratulations - you succeeded really well with this Blackbird! The black is shining and bright in just the right way (I think you're the one to give tips) and you caught him with that telling glint in the eye. And the frame is perfectly proportional to the picture. An excellent Blackbird-portrait! TFS
With best regards,
Goran
