I did not feel threatened by this lazy insect as it is probably a hoverfly and not a bee, i suspect a dronefly but perhaps you can identify it better. he took a moment or two to rest on my hand, so I was able to get up close with my macro 3-4cm. this was the best of three shots before he flew.

Hello Sue,
you are right - it can't sting you, because it is a hoverfly. Nice focus on the body to present the hairy surface. Depth of field is rather narrow due to f/4. In my opinion, a slightly smaller aperture would have been advantageous.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Sue,
this is a sharp and detailed image.
Well done,
Joey

Very well done, Sue, I can see the facettes of the eyes so clear and the colours are beautiful. Thanks

good focus nice composition--great bravery!-- and nice colors.

Beautyful colors and great macro. Nice detail and DOF. I quote batu for the aperture, but a smaller aperture, maybe, would have made the photo blurry for the prolonged exposure time. All in all, great work.
